Matthew A. Nussbaum, CFA, serves as a Director and Private Wealth Advisor at Americana Partners, bringing more than 25 years of experience in investment management, research leadership, and global markets.
Before joining Americana, Matthew served as a Portfolio Manager and Director of Research at L&S Advisors, where he managed discretionary client portfolios and led investment strategy across fixed income and equity. During that time, he was recognized on the PSN Top Guns List from 2022 through 2025, based on quantitative evaluation of investment strategies.
Earlier in his career, Matthew held roles in investment research and international real estate investment, including leading U.S. market entry initiatives in Central America. His background also includes experience in startup ventures and international public affairs, contributing to the global perspective he brings to his work.
Matthew’s investment philosophy is grounded in fundamental research and disciplined portfolio construction. His process integrates top-down macroeconomic analysis with bottom-up security selection, supported by systematic sector research and valuation discipline. This structured approach emphasizes risk management, long-term capital preservation, and thoughtful implementation across market cycles.
Matthew earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with honors and a minor in Accounting from UCLA. He is a CFA Charterholder and remains actively engaged in the investment community, serving as an Investor in Residence at UCLA’s Department of Economics, mentoring student teams in the CFA Institute Research Challenge, and contributing to CFA Institute committees focused on practice analysis and advocacy.
