W.L. Gray, Jr. is a Managing Director with Americana Partners. He founded Goodpasture Gray, an SEC-registered investment advisory firm, in 1997 to serve sophisticated clients seeking long-term, generational investment advice through asset allocation strategies.
With more than 50 years of Wall Street experience, W.L. has held senior leadership positions at firms such as Drexel Burnham Lambert and Kidder Peabody. His work with both domestic and international institutional clients gave him a broad understanding of the global economy and its impact on diverse market structures.
Beyond his professional career, W.L. has dedicated significant time to service and philanthropy. A proud member of the Texas Zeta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta at Texas Christian University, he served as Chairman of the Board from 2007 to 2013 and now serves as Trustee Emeritus. He is also Chairman of the Board of the LiveLikeLou Foundation, which supports pre-clinical ALS research and provides care for ALS patients. In addition, he serves on the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee of the Andrew Jackson Foundation in Nashville, helping preserve and share the history of President Andrew Jackson through The Hermitage.
An avid pilot since 1970, W.L. holds an instrument rating and was honored with the FAA’s Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award in 2021. He is a member of Angel Flight and HSEAT (Homeland Security Emergency Air Transport), and following major weather disasters in the Southeast, he personally flew missions across Texas and the Gulf Coast to reunite separated families and deliver critical medical supplies.
W.L. and his wife, Lynn, reside in Nashville. They have three sons—Sean, Will, and Kyle—and two daughters, Katie and Shannon.
